Michelle Laguens is Family Medical Center’s certified physician assistant. Laguens graduated with a Master of Science degree in Health Science and Physician Assistant Studies from George Washington University in 2005. She served with distinction in the U.S. Navy for six years and received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the U.S. Naval Academy.
After performing her duties as a naval aviator and then returning to college, Laguens began working as a physician assistant in an ear, nose and throat (ENT) clinic and she later added to her expertise in family practice, urgent care and women’s health. Laguens rounded out her health care experience in Uganda, serving as a certified physician assistant developing medical curricula and training for the village mobile health clinics. This diverse experience brings with it an excellent background in providing care for chronic and acute illnesses, minor surgical procedures, women’s health including gynecologic care and family planning, musculoskeletal injuries and ENT conditions.
With Laguens’ know-how in treating men and women for a variety of conditions, she is able to address the various ailments for her patients at Family Medical Centers. She skillfully identifies and treats patient concerns such as the everyday common cold, diagnostic testing for diverse conditions, muscle sprains and strains, as well as gender-specific health matters.
Laguens is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Florida Medical Association and the Florida, California and Colorado Academies of Physician Assistants.
